Erosive tooth wear and the BEWE
A practical introduction to the BEWE
This video provides a practical demonstration of the BEWE examination for everyday practice and features Professor David Bartlett and Dr Saoirse O’Toole from Kings College London.

Pronamel toothpaste contains 1450ppm fluoride in an optimised formulation designed to maximise intraoral fluoride. By omitting components that inhibit fluoride uptake, this unique Pronamel dual-action formulation enhances remineralisation and inhibits demineralisation, strengthening and protecting enamel.

Why develop the DHEQ?
Watch Peter Robinson, Head of Bristol Dental School and Professor of Dental Public Health at the University of Bristol, UK, discuss why the Dentine Hypersensitivity Experience Questionnaire (DHEQ) was developed.
NovaMin helps protect against hypersensitivity
On making contact with saliva, NovaMin initiates a cascade of ionic exchanges, resulting in a rise in local pH level. This allows NovaMin particles to bind to collagen fibres in exposed dentine. Once bound, NovaMin particles act as calcium and phosphate reservoirs, forming a robust hydroxyapatite-like layer over exposed dentine tubules to help protect against dentine hypersensitivity pain.
Stannous fluoride formulation accelerates occlusion of exposed dentine tubules
Sensodyne stannous fluoride formulations have a balance of active stannous fluoride and bio-adhesive polymer which accelerates occlusion of dentine tubules, providing relief from dentine hypersensitivity.
Dentures only restore one fifth of the masticatory efficiency of natural teeth. As a result, many patients cannot eat certain foods and are forced to adjust to a less interesting and nutritious diet.
Denture oral environment
Even if a denture looks clean, its surface can have pores and crevices that provide undisturbed habitats for microbial penetration and biofilm formation. Most pores are many times smaller than the width of a toothbrush bristle, making mechanical cleaning difficult.
The role of fixatives
The oral musculature and functional movements of eating and speaking exert pressure on the dentures causing them to move in the mouth. Fixatives can help secure the denture.
